(1) No trial court of the State of Oregon other than the Circuit Court of Marion County shall have jurisdiction over any action or proceeding against the Department of Justice or any employee of the department, for anything done, omitted to be done in or arising out of the performance of the duties of the department.

- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Person: includes individuals, corporations, associations, firms, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint stock companies. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
(2) Neither the department nor any employee thereof shall be personally liable in any action for damages sustained by any person because of any act done or omitted by the department, or any employee of the department, in the performance of the duties of the department. [1987 c.914 § 15]
