- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

The State of Illinois hereby authorizes acceptance of retrocession, either partially or wholly, by the United States over land owned by the United States within the boundaries of Illinois and under the jurisdiction of the Secretary of the Air Force commonly known as Chanute Air Force Base. The Governor of the State is hereby authorized to accept for the State full or partial retrocession of jurisdiction.
