Terms Used In Michigan Laws 168.828
- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Election: means an election or primary election at which the electors of this state or of a subdivision of this state choose or nominate by ballot an individual for public office or decide a ballot question lawfully submitted to them. See Michigan Laws 168.2
- person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. The clerk of the board of county canvassers forthwith, and in no case later than 24 hours after the completion of the canvass, upon forms provided by the secretary of state, shall deliver in person or send to the secretary of state, by registered or certified mail with return receipt demanded, a certified copy of each of the statements prepared by the board as required by section 824 of this act, so far as such statements shall relate to the vote for any state office, electors of president and vice-president of the United States, United States senator, representative in congress, circuit judges, state senators and representatives in the state legislature, and any proposed amendment to the constitution or other question or proposition submitted at such election to the electors of the state at large, together with a certificate of authenticity signed by himself and the chairman of the board of canvassers.
