(1) Each domesticated elk shall be marked by either an official USDA tag or by an electronic identification tag, as provided in Subsection (2):

Terms Used In Utah Code 4-39-304

  • Domesticated elk: means elk of the genus and species cervus elaphus, held in captivity and domestically raised for commercial purposes. See Utah Code 4-39-102
     (1)(a) within 30 days of a change of ownership; or
     (1)(b) in the case of newborn calves, within 15 days after being weaned, but in any case, no later than January 31.
(2) If a domesticated elk is identified with an electronic identification tag, it shall be placed in the right ear.
