- year: means a calendar year; but, whenever the word "year" is used in reference to any appropriations for the payment of money out of the treasury, it shall mean fiscal year. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
Any chair who has not met all the requirements pursuant to the schedule set out in this part may request in writing a one-year extension, and upon the recommendation of the county engineer and approval of the county commission, be continued in the program and allowed one additional year to complete all the requirements set out in this part for acceptance into the county road maintenance system.
