(a) A teacher who first becomes a member on or after July 1, 2006, shall participate in the plan as a member of the defined contribution retirement plan.

(b) A teacher who is participating in a university retirement program under Alaska Stat. § 14.40.661 – 14.40.799 may not participate as a member of the defined contribution retirement plan.
