Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 15.10.110

  • director: means the director of elections who is the chief elections officer of the state appointed in accordance with Alaska Stat. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • qualified voter: means a person who has the qualification of a voter and is not disqualified as provided by art. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060

The director shall appoint election supervisors, including one in each of the municipalities of Juneau, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Nome, to assist in the administration of elections in the house districts designated by the director. The director may appoint as an election supervisor a person who is a qualified voter in the area over which the person has jurisdiction and who meets the applicable requirements of Alaska Stat. § 15.10.105(b). An election supervisor is entitled to receive compensation in an amount that is comparable to that received for similar state employment as determined by the director.
