(a) The director shall prescribe the form of and prepare tinted sample ballots and all other materials, forms, and supplies required for the election.

Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 15.15.040

  • ballot: means any document provided by the director on which votes may be cast for candidates, propositions, or questions. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
  • director: means the director of elections who is the chief elections officer of the state appointed in accordance with Alaska Stat. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • proposition: means an initiative, referendum, or constitutional amendment submitted at an election to the public for vote. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
  • special election: means an election held at a time other than when the general or primary election is held and an election called to be held with, and at the time of, the general or primary election. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
(b) The director shall prepare and issue or make available with each sample ballot for a special election the statement provided for in Alaska Stat. § 24.08.037 of the scope of each project included in a proposed general obligation bond issue creating a state debt for capital improvements that is submitted to the electorate for ratification under Alaska Stat. § 15.15.030(11). The statement of scope for each project shall be the same statement included in the authorization bill. When a ballot proposition is submitted to the voters at a primary or a special election, a statement the same as that provided for in the election pamphlet under Alaska Stat. § 15.58.020(a)(6) shall be made available with each sample ballot.
(c) The director shall provide materials, forms, and supplies for each polling place, including information regarding the date of the election and hours the polling place will be open, instructions on how to cast a questioned ballot, instructions for first-time voters who initially registered by mail, general information on voting rights, prohibitions on acts of fraud and misrepresentation, and whom to contact to report violations.
