In determining the residence within a house district of a qualified voter for the purposes of compliance with art. II, sec. 2, Constitution of the State of Alaska, the director shall apply the rules established in Alaska Stat. § 15.05.020 together with the following rules:

(1) a person establishes residence within a house district

  • director: means the director of elections who is the chief elections officer of the state appointed in accordance with Alaska Stat. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
  • house district: means one of the districts described in art. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • qualified voter: means a person who has the qualification of a voter and is not disqualified as provided by art. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • voter: means a person who presents oneself for the purpose of voting either in person or by absentee ballot. See Alaska Statutes 15.80.010
(A) by actual physical presence at a specific location within the district; and
(B) by maintaining a habitation at the specific location;
(2) a person may maintain a place of residence at a specific location within a district while away from the location for purposes of employment, education, military service, or vacation if the person does not establish residency at another location; and
(3) a qualified voter loses residence by voting in another house district or in another state‘s elections.
