A. If plaintiff appears and defendant fails to appear or neglects or refuses to join issue within such time as the court prescribes, plaintiff shall be given judgment by default.

  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
