Sections 684.010 and 684.020 do not apply to either of the following:

(a) A subpoena or other process to require the attendance of a party.

Terms Used In California Code of Civil Procedure 684.030

  • Process: signifies a writ or summons issued in the course of a judicial proceeding. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.

(b) A paper to bring a party into contempt.
