In approving the additional instruction and training required under subdivision (b) of Section 680, the department shall consider the requirements of Chapter 3 (commencing with Section 40080) of Part 23.5 of the Education Code, as those provisions relate to instruction and training requirements for schoolbus drivers and school pupil activity bus drivers.

- bus: is a ny vehicle, including a trailer bus, designed, used, or maintained for carrying more than 15 persons including the driver. See California Vehicle Code 233
- department: means the Department of the California Highway Patrol. See California Vehicle Code 2101
- instruction: includes classroom driver education, in-vehicle driver training, and correspondence study. See California Vehicle Code 310.6
