(a) Every farm tractor and every self-propelled unit of farm equipment or implement of husbandry shall at all times mentioned in subsection (a) of § 14-96a be equipped with two single-beam or multiple-beam head lamps meeting the requirements of § 14-96t, at least two red lamps visible when lighted from a distance of not less than one thousand feet to the rear and at least two red reflectors visible from all distances within six hundred feet to one hundred feet to the rear when directly in front of lawful upper beams of head lamps.

  • farm: includes farm buildings, and accessory buildings thereto, nurseries, orchards, ranges, greenhouses, hoophouses and other temporary structures or other structures used primarily for the raising and, as an incident to ordinary farming operations, the sale of agricultural or horticultural commodities.   • Vehicle: includes any device suitable for the conveyance, drawing or other transportation of persons or property, whether operated on wheels, runners, a cushion of air or by any other means. See Connecticut General Statutes 14-1

(b) Every combination of farm tractor and towed farm equipment or towed implement of husbandry shall at all times mentioned in subsection (a) of § 14-96a be equipped with lamps as follows: (1) The farm tractor element of every such combination shall be equipped as required in subsection (a) of this section. (2) The towed unit of farm equipment or implement of husbandry element of such combination shall be equipped on the rear with two red lamps visible when lighted from a distance of not less than one thousand feet to the rear, and two red reflectors visible to the rear from all distances within six hundred feet to one hundred feet to the rear when directly in front of lawful upper beams of head lamps. (3) Such combinations shall also be equipped with a lamp displaying a white or amber light, or any shade of color between white and amber, visible when lighted from a distance of not less than one thousand feet to the front. This lamp shall be so positioned as to indicate, as nearly as practicable, the extreme left projection of the combination carrying it.

(c) The two red lamps and the two red reflectors required in subsections (a) and (b) of this section on a self-propelled unit of farm equipment or implement of husbandry or combination of farm tractor and towed farm equipment shall be so positioned as to show from the rear as nearly as practicable the extreme width of the vehicle or combination carrying them.

(d) Failure to have lamps as required of this section shall be an infraction.
