On and after January 1, 2022, (1) any municipality may change the date of its municipal election in accordance with the provisions of § 9-164, (2) in any municipality that changes from the November municipal election date specified in said section to the May municipal election date specified in said section, the terms of incumbent municipal elected officials shall be diminished to conform to such change but for a period of not more than nine months, and (3) in any municipality that changes from the May municipal election date specified in said section to the November date specified in said section, the terms of incumbent municipal election officials shall be extended to conform to such change but for a period of not more than nine months.
Terms Used In Connecticut General Statutes 9-164c
- Election: means any electors' meeting at which the electors choose public officials by use of voting tabulators or by paper ballots as provided in §. See Connecticut General Statutes 9-1
- Municipal election: means the regularly recurring election held in a municipality at which the electors of the municipality choose public officials of such municipality. See Connecticut General Statutes 9-1
- Municipality: means any city, borough or town within the state. See Connecticut General Statutes 9-1
