Terms Used In Florida Statutes 218.401

  • Surplus funds: means any funds in any general or special account or fund of a unit of local government, or funds held by an independent trustee on behalf of a unit of local government, which in reasonable contemplation will not be immediately needed for the purposes intended. See Florida Statutes 218.403
It is the intent of this part to promote, through state assistance, the maximization of net interest earnings on invested surplus funds of local units of government, based on the principles of investor protection, mandated transparency, and proper governance, with the goal of reducing the need for imposing additional taxes.
