  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
The Chief of Police must immediately after the deposit pay the same into court and take from the clerk receiving the same two certificates of such payment, one of which he shall de-liver to the plaintiff‘s attorney, and the other to the defendant.
