Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 651-11

  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • police officer: means the director of law enforcement or the director's duly authorized representative, any chief of police or subordinate police officer, or an independent civil process server on the list maintained by the department of law enforcement pursuant to section 353C-1. When there are several attachments against the same defendant, they shall be executed in the order in which they are received by the police officer.
