(1) A physical therapist or physical therapist assistant duly licensed in accordance with this chapter is authorized to practice physical therapy as defined in this chapter.
(2)  A physical therapist shall refer persons under his or her care to appropriate health care practitioners including, but not limited to, licensed medical physicians, osteopathic physicians, podiatrists, dentists or chiropractic physicians, if the physical therapist has reasonable cause to believe symptoms or conditions are present that require services beyond the scope of practice of physical therapy or when the physical therapist has reasonable cause to believe that physical therapy is contraindicated.

  • Board: means the Idaho physical therapy licensure board. See Idaho Code 54-2203
  • Physical therapist: means a person licensed under the provisions of this chapter to engage in the practice of physical therapy. See Idaho Code 54-2203
  • Physical therapist assistant: means a person who meets the requirements of this chapter and who performs physical therapy procedures and related tasks that have been selected and delegated only by a supervising physical therapist. See Idaho Code 54-2203
  • Physical therapy: means the care and services provided by or under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. See Idaho Code 54-2203
  • Practice of physical therapy: means the exercise of the profession of physical therapy by a person who engages in the following health care activities:

(3)  Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants shall adhere to the standards of ethics of the physical therapy profession as set forth in the administrative rules adopted by the board.
