Terms Used In Idaho Code 54-3400

  • Marriage and family therapy: means the evaluation and treatment of mental and emotional disorders, whether cognitive, affective or behavioral, within the context of marriage and family systems. See Idaho Code 54-3401
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories; and the words "United States" may include the District of Columbia and territories. See Idaho Code 73-114
The practice of counseling and marriage and family therapy in the state of Idaho is hereby declared to affect the public health, safety and welfare, and to be subject to regulation and control in the public interest to protect the public from the unprofessional, improper, unauthorized and unqualified practice of counseling or marriage and family therapy, and from unprofessional conduct by persons licensed to practice counseling or marriage and family therapy. This chapter should be construed liberally to carry out these objectives and purposes.
