Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 10 ILCS 5/24B-20

  • equipment: includes apparatus necessary to automatically examine and count votes as designated on ballots, and data processing machines which can be used for counting ballots and tabulating results. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 10 ILCS 5/24B-2
  • Voting defect identification: means the capability to detect overvoted ballots or ballots which cannot be read by the automatic tabulating equipment. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 10 ILCS 5/24B-2
     An election authority is required to use the Voting Defect Identification capabilities of the automatic tabulating equipment when used in-precinct, including both the capability of identifying an under-vote and the capability of identifying an over-vote.
