  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • Legacy: A gift of property made by will.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The Authority is authorized and empowered to acquire, directly or by and through a participating health institution as its agent, by purchase solely from funds provided under the authority of this Act, or by gift or legacy, such lands, structures, property, real or personal, rights, rights-of-way, franchises, easements and other interests in lands, including lands lying under water and riparian rights, which are located within the State as it may deem necessary or convenient for the construction or operation of a project, upon such terms and at such prices as may be considered by it to be reasonable and can be agreed upon between it and the owner thereof, and to take title thereto in the name of the Authority or in the name of a participating health institution as its agent.
