Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 215 ILCS 110/16

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.

     Nine or more natural persons of legal age, all of whom are residents of Illinois and citizens of the United States, and at least a majority of whom are dentists licensed in Illinois to practice dentistry, may form, under the provisions of this Act, a dental service plan corporation for the purpose of establishing and operating a dental service plan or plans. Such corporation shall be subject to regulation and supervision by the Director as hereinafter provided, but shall not be subject to the laws of this State with respect to insurance corporations, except as provided in this Act.
