Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 215 ILCS 155/2

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Any corporation which has been or shall be incorporated or qualified to do business under the Business Corporation Act of 1983, as now or hereafter amended, or any predecessor law for the purpose, in whole or part, of doing the business of title insurance, may transact such business during the time for which it may be incorporated or qualified to do business in this State, subject to the requirements of this Act.
