A home rule unit may not regulate the service of fire sprinkler systems in a manner less restrictive than the regulation by the State on the service of fire sprinkler systems under this Act. This Section is a limitation under subsection (i) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution on the concurrent exercise by home rule units of powers and functions exercised by the State.
     The changes made to this Section by this amendatory Act of the 102nd General Assembly are intended to be a restatement and clarification of existing law.
