  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Subject to the requirement for public hearings as provided in this Section, the Office shall publish and adopt, and may, from time to time, amend such rules as may be necessary for the proper enforcement of this Act, to protect the health and safety of the public. The Office shall hold a public hearing prior to the adoption or amendment of rules required under this Act. The Office may, when necessary, utilize the services of any other State agency to assist in carrying out the purposes of this Act.
