Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 225 ILCS 454/20-65

  • Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
     The Secretary may temporarily suspend the license of a licensee without a hearing, simultaneously with the institution of proceedings for a hearing provided for in Section 20-60 of this Act, if the Secretary finds that the evidence indicates that the public interest, safety, or welfare imperatively requires emergency action. In the event that the Secretary temporarily suspends the license without a hearing before the Board, a hearing shall be commenced within 30 days after the suspension has occurred. The suspended licensee may seek a continuance of the hearing during which the suspension shall remain in effect. The proceeding shall be concluded without appreciable delay.
