Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 30 ILCS 405/9

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The Secretary of State shall cause publication of this Act to be made, once each week, for 3 months at least before the vote of the people is taken on this Act, in at least 2 daily newspapers, one of which shall be published in the City of Springfield and the other in the City of Chicago. The Secretary of State may make additional publications in other counties as in the case of a constitutional amendment.
