Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 40 ILCS 5/11-107

  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
     “Employer”: A city of more than 500,000 inhabitants, the Board of Education of such city to which this Article applies, the board of this fund, or the retirement board of any other annuity and benefit fund on a reserve basis in such city (one or more employees of which have applied for participation in this fund as provided in this Article).
