Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 40 ILCS 5/14-103.04

  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     “Department”: Any department, institution, board, commission, officer, court, or any agency of the State having power to certify payrolls to the State Comptroller authorizing payments of salary or wages against State appropriations, or against trust funds held by the State Treasurer, except those departments included under the term “employer” in the State Universities Retirement System. “Department” includes the Illinois Finance Authority. “Department” also includes the Illinois Comprehensive Health Insurance Board.
