  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
     In lieu of all amounts ordinarily contributed by an employee and by the county for age and service annuity, and widow’s annuity the county shall contribute sums equal to such amounts for any period during which the employee receives duty disability benefit to be credited to the disabled employee for annuity purposes as though he were in active discharge of his duties during any such period of disability.
