Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 55 ILCS 5/5-1103.1

  • Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • County board: means the board of county commissioners in counties not under township organization, and the board of supervisors in counties under township organization, and the board of commissioners of Cook County. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.07
  • Municipalities: has the meaning established in Section 1 of Article VII of the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.27
     In counties having fewer than 1,000,000 inhabitants, the county board may contract, with advice and consent of the sheriff in the county in which the request for contract services is made, based upon a determination of law enforcement needs of the area in which contract services are sought, with one or more incorporated municipalities lying wholly or partly within the county to furnish police protection in the area of the county that is not within the incorporated area of any municipality having a regular police department.
