- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

The federal exclusive jurisdiction hereby retroceded, the nature of the legislative jurisdiction ceded with and retained by the State of Illinois shall continue no longer than the United States of America owns the lands described herein, and retains a proprietorial interest thereto.
