  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
     In the trial of all actions brought under this Act for the imposition of criminal sanctions or the recovery of civil penalties or damages, any party, upon timely demand, shall be entitled to a trial by jury.
