Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 805 ILCS 125/4

  • Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Whenever any such resolution has been adopted in the manner provided in section 3 of this Act, a certified copy of such resolution, verified by the affidavit of the president of said corporation, association or society and under its corporate seal, attested by its secretary, shall be filed in the office of the Secretary of State and a like copy filed in the office of the recorder of the county where the principal office of such corporation, association or society is located, and thereupon such amendment shall be and become effective.
