Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 805 ILCS 5/5.30

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Service of process on foreign corporation not authorized to transact business in Illinois. If any foreign corporation transacts business in this State without having obtained authority to transact business, it shall be deemed that such corporation has designated and appointed the Secretary of State as an agent for process upon whom any notice, process or demand may be served. Service on the Secretary of State shall be made in the manner set forth in subsection (c) of Section 5.25 of this Act.
