• Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
• Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
• Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
• compensation: includes compensation received in a lump sum for accumulated unused vacation, personal leave or sick leave, with the exception of health care providers. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 40 ILCS 5/24-102
• Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
• employee: means any person, including a person elected, appointed or under contract, receiving compensation from the State or a unit of local government or school district for personal services rendered, including salaried persons. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 40 ILCS 5/24-102
• Equitable: Pertaining to civil suits in "equity" rather than in "law." In English legal history, the courts of "law" could order the payment of damages and could afford no other remedy. See damages. A separate court of "equity" could order someone to do something or to cease to do something. See, e.g., injunction. In American jurisprudence, the federal courts have both legal and equitable power, but the distinction is still an important one. • health care provider: means a dentist, physician, optometrist, pharmacist, or podiatric physician that participates and receives compensation as a provider under the Illinois Public Aid Code, the Children's Health Insurance Act, or the Covering ALL KIDS Health Insurance Act. • Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
• State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
• United States: may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
• Units of local government: has the meaning established in Section 1 of Article VII of the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.28
