Sec. 24. There is appropriated from the state general fund sufficient funds to:

(1) settle claims and satisfy tort judgments obtained against the state;

Terms Used In Indiana Code 34-13-3-24

  • Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.
(2) pay interest on claims and judgments; and

(3) subject to approval by the budget director, pay:

(A) liability insurance premiums; and

(B) expenses incurred by the attorney general in employing other counsel to aid in defending or settling claims or civil actions against the state.
