Terms Used In Indiana Code 34-13-6-8
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
Sec. 8. An appeal takes precedence over other pending litigation and shall be tried and determined by the court at as early a date as practical.
