Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 19-243

  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

K.S.A. 19-241, 19-242 or failure to perform duties; penalty. Any board of county commissioners, or any county commissioner, or county clerk, who shall violate any of the provisions of this act, or neglect or refuse to perform any duty herein imposed, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof in a court of competent jurisdiction shall be subject to a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more than ten thousand dollars, and shall, moreover, be removed from office.
