Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 19-3708

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.

If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section or subsection of this act shall, for any reason, be adjudged by any court of competent jurisdiction, to be unconstitutional and invalid, such judgment shall not affect, repeal or invalidate the remainder thereof, but shall be confined in its operation to the clause, sentence, paragraph, section or subsection thereof so found unconstitutional and invalid.
