Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 19-3816

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Property: includes personal and real property. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.

No action shall be maintained by any person or corporation against any industrial district organized under the provisions of this chapter on account of injury to persons or property unless the corporation or person injured shall within thirty days thereafter and prior to the bringing of the suit file with any officer of the industrial district a written statement, giving the time and place of the happening of the accident or injury received and the circumstances relating thereto. Such industrial district shall have sixty days from the time of the filing of such statement to make settlement with the claimant if it so desires.
