Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 27-102b

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Property: includes personal and real property. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The property of any private corporation engaged in the business of owning or operating housing projects upon United States military reservations in this state shall be assessed and taxed annually, and the county in which the housing project lies geographically as determined by the descriptions set out inchapter 18 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated shall have jurisdiction over such housing projects for the purposes of taxation.
