Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 39-7,137

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

(a) Nothing in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 39-7,137 through 39-7,152 and amendments thereto shall be construed as a waiver by the state of Kansas of immunity from suit under the 11th amendment to the constitution of the United States or as allowing any jurisdiction outside this state to impose sanctions or penalties against the state of Kansas, any agency or instrumentality thereof, its officers or employees.

(b) Kan. Stat. Ann. § 39-7,137 through 39-7,152 and amendments thereto shall be part of and supplemental to article 7 of chapter 39 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated.
