Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 8-1,111

  • Division: means the division of vehicles of the department of revenue. See Kansas Statutes 8-126
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
  • Vehicle: means every device in, upon or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a public highway, excepting electric personal assistive mobility devices or devices moved by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks. See Kansas Statutes 8-126

Vehicles required to be registered as part of a fleet under the provisions of this act, which vehicles are based in the state of Kansas, shall be required to have a Kansas negotiable certificate of title or be covered by a negotiable title issued by another jurisdiction. In those cases where it is necessary to secure a Kansas certificate of title to a vehicle which is part of a fleet under the provisions of Kan. Stat. Ann. § 8-1,101 to 8-1,123, inclusive, the division is authorized to issue such title upon the payment of the fee prescribed by law and the delivery of the necessary papers to support the issuance of such title. No Kansas title shall be required for a vehicle which is subject to a lease, if the lessor thereof has an outstanding negotiable title to such vehicle, issued by this state or another jurisdiction.
