A license to operate a medical laboratory shall be issued to the director for the purposes stated in the application, and he shall be responsible to the cabinet for the maintenance and conduct thereof including any violations of the provisions of this chapter and the regulations promulgated hereunder. A license shall be valid only in the hands of the person to whom it is issued and shall not be the subject of sale, assignment, or transfer (voluntary or involuntary) nor shall a license be valid for any premises other than those for which issued.

  • Medical laboratory: means any institution, building, place, or any other facility in which operations and procedures for the microbiological, serological, chemical, hematological, immunohematological, biophysical, cytological, pathological, or other methods of examination of tissues including blood, secretions, and excretions of the human body are performed to obtain information in diagnosing, preventing, or treating disease, or in which the results of any examination, determination, or test are used as a basis for health advice.   • Person: means any individual, firm, partnership, association, corporation, municipality, political subdivision, or any other entity whether organized for profit or not. See Kentucky Statutes 333.020
