(1) KRS § 273.161 to KRS § 273.390, so far as it can be made applicable, shall apply to any nonstock, nonprofit corporation in existence on June 30, 1968, which was formed under the general laws of this state relating to religious, educational, charitable, civic, athletic, recreational, and social nonstock, nonprofit corporations, or by special act, for a purpose or purposes for which a corporation might be formed under KRS § 273.161 to KRS § 273.390.
(2) It shall not be necessary for any such existing corporation to amend its articles to set forth the provisions required by KRS § 273.161 to KRS § 273.390 to be set forth in articles of incorporation.

(3) Such existing corporations shall have all the powers enumerated in KRS § 273.171.
