Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:1353

  • Blanket travel insurance: means travel insurance issued to any eligible group providing coverage for specified circumstances and specific classes of persons defined in the policy and issued to a policyholder and not by specifically naming the persons covered, by certificate or otherwise, although a statement of the coverage provided may be given, or required by policy to be given, to eligible persons.   • Eligible group: means any of the following:

                (a) Any entity engaged in the business of providing travel or travel services, including but not limited to:

                (i) Tour operators. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:1352

  • Group travel insurance: means travel insurance issued to any eligible group. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:1352
  • Policy: means an automobile liability, automobile physical damage, or automobile collision policy, or any combination thereof, delivered or issued for delivery in this state, or any binder based on such a policy, insuring a single individual or husband and wife resident of the same household, as named insured, and under which the insured vehicles therein designated are of the following types only:

                (a) A private passenger vehicle that is not used as a public or livery conveyance for passengers, nor rented to others. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:1266

            A. A travel insurer shall be subject to the provisions of Chapter 3 of this Title, La. Rev. Stat. 22:791 et seq.

            B. A travel insurer shall pay premium tax, as provided in La. Rev. Stat. 22:837 and 838, on travel insurance premiums paid by any one of the following:

            (1) An individual policyholder who is a resident of this state.

            (2) A certificate-holder who is a resident of this state who elects coverage under a group travel insurance policy.

            (3) An eligible group policyholder that is resident in, or has its principal place of business in, this state that purchases a blanket travel insurance policy.
