  • Occupational therapy: means the application of any activity in which one engages for the purposes of evaluation, interpretation, treatment planning, and treatment of problems interfering with functional performance in persons impaired by physical illness or injury, emotional disorders, congenital or developmental disabilities, or the aging process, in order to achieve optimum functioning and prevention and health maintenance.             In order to safeguard the public health, safety, and welfare; protect the public from being misled by incompetent, unscrupulous, and unauthorized persons; assure the highest degree of professional conduct on the part of occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and occupational therapy services of high quality to persons in need of such services, it is the purpose of this Chapter to provide for the regulation of persons offering occupational therapy services to the public.
