Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:3573.16

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Person: means an individual, corporation, partnership, trust, association, joint venture pool, syndicate, sole proprietorship, unincorporated organization, or any other form of entity not specifically listed herein. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:3573.2

A person who violates a provision of this Part may be fined up to one thousand dollars for each violation.  The attorney general may maintain a civil action in a court of competent jurisdiction to recover such fines, together with his costs and attorney fees incident to such action.
