Under the Maine Revised Statutes, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:Class | Prison | Fine |

Whoever intentionally removes the seal of the State of Maine from the office or custody of the Secretary of State at Augusta, intentionally secretes, defaces, injures or destroys it or, having possession or control of the seal, intentionally neglects or refuses to deliver it to the Secretary of State upon demand is guilty of a Class C crime.
